My Next Chapter

2 min readMay 1, 2018

I am delighted to announce I’m joining GV as a General Partner. I’ve been investing with #ANGELS the last several years and am excited to spend the next chapter of my career investing full-time with one of the largest and most differentiated platforms in the industry.

I have built my career partnering with entrepreneurs. Over nearly nine years and 30 acquisitions at Twitter, I’ve been in the trenches with founders in the most critical moments of their journey building a company. As VP of Corporate Development & Strategy, I’ve also collaborated with leaders in every function to crack open and explore the biggest questions and opportunities facing the company: How should we expand beyond a single product? Which complementary new businesses could boost our success through acquisition? How do we effectively run remote offices and globally distributed teams? Should we de-prioritize an effort that’s not working? Do we have the technology foundation we need for the future? Simply put, I love this work. It is a privilege to be able to do it. As an investor, I’m excited to continue to partner with founders and share lessons learned from many acquisitions and from scaling a 34 person start-up to a global platform and public company.

For founders who have ample choice in where to raise money, GV is a world-class partner and a unique platform. In addition to seasoned investors, the firm has vast resources, technical expertise, and capital to support founders throughout all stages of growth. GV has engineering in their DNA and embraces technology in how they approach their own business. Discussions around the partnership table move fluidly between debating an investment thesis and the latest machine learning research paper. Having built my career working side by side with engineers, this environment excites me. I can’t wait to learn from this group and add my experience to the table.

I aspire to leave a positive mark on the industry and GV’s scale, culture, and connection to Alphabet makes it an excellent platform to have that impact. I’m delighted to work alongside colleagues everyday who share these values. While my investing will be focused on GV, I will continue to build #ANGELS and scale our #ANGELS Access program which aims to get more women on the cap tables of successful startups. Over the last three years we’ve brought together hundreds of women through a dozen events to talk about investing, share knowledge, diversify networks, and explore new frontier spaces (like crypto). This program is just a tiny fraction of our time but has become a very meaningful endeavor. I also can’t wait to lock arms with my friends and industry colleagues at AllRaise and continue to move our industry forward, together.

I start as a General Partner with GV in two weeks, after I (hopefully) finish the one goal I set for myself during my time off: getting back out on the trails for an ultramarathon in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve got 50 miles to cover and 12,000 feet to climb! Then I can’t wait to hit the ground running.
